Parker thermoplastic hoses are hydraulic and pneumatic hoses with both thermoplastic outer covers and thermoplastic inner tubes. Sometimes people refer to hoses with rubber covers and thermoplastic inner tubes as thermoplastic hoses but those hoses are correctly referred to as hybrid hoses.

Advantages of Parker Parflex thermoplastic hoses
Parker Parflex thermoplastic hoses have many advantages over their rubber hose counterparts:
- Superior abrasion resistance – outlasts rubber hoses up to 10 times in lab tests.
- Long continuous lengths reduce scrap and save money.
- Clean core tubes – unlike rubber core tubes, thermoplastic core tubes don’t introduce debris into the inside of the hose, greatly reducing the risk of contamination in the hydraulic system.
- Resistance of the thermoplastic inner tube and outer cover to a wide range of chemicals means that thermoplastic hoses can be used in more applications than rubber hoses.
- Resistance to degradation from UV rays – unlike rubber hoses, thermoplastic hoses won’t break down in the sun over time. They also better resist the effects of water and harsh wash-down chemicals.
- Light weight, smaller OD – thermoplastic hoses are lighter and more compact (smaller outside diameter than rubber hoses with the same inside diameter) which makes them better suited for applications, such as mobile, where weight is important and space is tight.
- Lower volumetric expansion – quicker response time than rubber hose.
Parker Parflex thermoplastic hose construction
Construction standards vary among different thermoplastic hoses but here are some common characteristics:
- All hose layers are bonded together to provide maximum kink resistance and flexibility through a wide range of applications.
- Tightly packed fiber-braided reinforcement provides strength.
- With noted exceptions, Parflex thermoplastic hoses are engineered to a 4:1 burst pressure to working pressure ratio.
- Perforated and non-perforated thermoplastic hoses are available based on application.
IMPORTANT! Never operate a hose beyond the hose manufacturer’s designated working pressure.
